THE PRAYER SECTION · 43 – LEAVING THE MOSQUE AFTER THE CALL TO PRAYER (Adhan)

Abū Sa’sa, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
We were with Abū Hurayra in the mosque when the mu'adhdhin pronounced the call to the afternoon prayer. A man then went out and departed. Abū Hurayra said, "Indeed, this man has disobeyed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding Abū Qāsim."
[351]
**Explanation:**
Abū al-Qāsim is the kunya (nickname) of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. This honorable hadith indicates the undesirability (makrūh) of leaving the mosque where one is present while the call to prayer is being recited. However, if he left to perform a duty in another mosque, then he is exempt from this undesirability.
