ABLUTION SECTION · 36 – INVALIDATING A SMALL ABLUTION WITH STILL WATER
69 – From Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, he narrated: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Let none of you urinate in stagnant water, for perhaps he will wash from it later.” [81]
70 – From the narration of Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Let none of you urinate in stagnant water, and perform ghusl while in a state of ritual impurity therein." [82]
EXPLANATION
If one performs ghusl in stagnant water other than large pools or lakes, it renders that water impure and used, so that it is not permissible to use it again for ablution or ghusl. Those who wish to perform ghusl in such small amounts of stagnant water should take the water with a vessel and then perform ghusl with it.
