ABLUTION SECTION · 48 – RECITE THE BASMALA (INVOCATION) WHEN STARTING ABLUTION
101 – From Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him:
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The prayer of one who has not performed ablution is invalid. And the remembrance of Allah is absent from those whose ablution is incomplete." [105]
EXPLANATION
The prayer of someone without ablution is not permissible. Reciting the blessing (besmele) during ablution is sunna. If the blessing is not recited, the ablution remains valid, but the individual is deprived of its excellence. Intention, sunna, and excellence are essential in ablution and ritual bath. Even if intention is absent, the ablution is sound, but it leads to deprivation of excellence.
102 – From Darawardi: Rabia explained the hadith narrated by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "The ablution of one who does not mention Allah’s name is invalid" as follows: He who performs ablution or ritual bath without intending to perform ablution for prayer or a ritual bath due to janaba (sexual impurity).
