SECTION ON PRAYER · 79 – Performing Prayer While Tying a Garment Around the Neck

Sa’d bin Sehl (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
I saw men behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) in prayer, their shirts tight around them like children's necks. Someone then announced: “O women who are praying, do not raise your heads until the men have raised theirs.” [410]
**Explanation:**
It was announced for the women to rise from prostration after the men, so that the private parts of the men would not be visible to the women’s eyes, because some men's garments were such that without undergarments, their private parts might be exposed when they bow and rise.
