PURITY SECTION · 25 – USING A MISWAK
46 – Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated on the authority of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: “Had I not feared hardship for the believers, I would have commanded them to delay the Isha’ prayer and to use the siwak with every ritual bath.” [64]
47 – Zayd ibn Khalid al-Jubaini, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'Had I not feared hardship for my community, I would have commanded them to use the siwak with every prayer.'" Abū Salama said: “I never saw Zayd sitting in the mosque except that he had a siwak placed where the scribe places his pen, and he used it before standing up for every prayer.” [65]
48 – Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban said: Abdullah ibn Abdullah told me that I see Ibn Umar performing ablution whether or not he is already in a state of ritual purity at every time of prayer. I asked him: “Why do you do this?” He replied: "Zayd ibn Thabit's daughter, Asma, informed me on the authority of Abdullah ibn Hanza’la that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was commanded to perform a separate ablution for every prayer, whether he was in a state of ritual purity or not. When this became difficult for the Prophet, he was commanded to use the siwak with every prayer.” Ibn Umar saw strength within himself, so he did not abandon performing a fresh ablution for every prayer.
