ABLUTION SECTION · 87 – What should someone who wants to sleep in a state of ritual impurity do?
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar:
Umar (bin Khattab) mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that nocturnal janabah (sexual impurity) had afflicted him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, “Wash your private parts, perform ablution, then sleep.”
[Footnote: This honorable hadith indicates that a person who is in a state of janabah may wash his penis and perform ablution before sleeping if he cannot bathe immediately. However, this sleep should not cause the passing of a time for prayer. Because it does not befit a believer to pass a time for prayer while in a state of impurity.]
