528 – From Abū Umāma or from some of the Companions (ṣaḥāba): When Bilāl (may Allah be pleased with him) began the iqāma (the call to commence prayer), and when he reached the words “The prayer has begun, the prayer has begun,” the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah has caused the prayer to begin and has made it perpetual.” For the other words of the iqāma, he (the narrator) said that he (the Prophet) said them as ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated in the adhān (call to prayer).
