-2. VOLUME – · 208 – What time is the response time on Friday?
Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) related:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Friday has twelve hours. If a Muslim supplicates to Allah in those hours for anything, He will surely grant it. Seek that hour between the afternoon and sunset.” [118]
Abū Bürdah ibn Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
He said to me, intending the precious hour of Friday, “Did you hear what your father related about Friday?” I replied, “Yes, I heard him say that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘It is between the sitting of the imam and the end of the prayer.’”
Abū Dāwūd said: He means the sitting on the pulpit.
COMMENTARY
Regarding the precious hour on Friday when supplication is accepted, it is mentioned in *Awn al-Mā’būd that forty-three opinions have been narrated in *Fatḥ al-Bārī* concerning this matter. The strongest of them is as reported in this hadith: between the time the preacher ascends the pulpit and the end of the prayer.
