SECTION ON PRAYER · 105 – When a person prays facing a pillar and similar objects, on which side should they face?

Zubayra bint Mikdad bin al-Aswad’s father, Mikdad (may Allah be pleased with him), said:
I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) pray facing a wooden post, a branch, or a tree, but he would face it with only his right eyebrow or left eyebrow. He would not place the entire barrier directly in front of him.
[Explanation:] It is recommended to face these barriers – a post, a branch, or a tree – with either the right eyebrow or the left eyebrow when praying towards them. One should not stand perpendicularly to the barrier.
