CHAPTER 6 – A MAN RELEASING HIS OWN SLAVE AND THEN MARRYING HER
Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, "Whoever emancipates a female slave and then marries her, he will have two rewards."
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) freed Safiyya and considered her manumission as her dowry. [85]
COMMENTARY
Safiyya was a slave-girl of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him). He freed her and married her.
He regarded her manumission as equivalent to the dowry that is stipulated in marriage.
Sadak: Means dowry.
