SECTION ON ZAKAT · 2 – ARE TRADING CENTERS SUBJECT TO ZAKAT?
Semure bin Cundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) would command us to pay zakat on commodities we prepared for sale.
**EXPLANATION:**
Merchandise is subject to zakat. Fabrics, animals, and other goods prepared for trade are subject to zakat. The value of cattle and sheep held for trade is considered; their numbers are not relevant.
