It is narrated from Ibn Abbas and Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with them both, that they said:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the devil’s slaughter.

Ibn Isha's narration added this explanation: The devil’s slaughter is when an animal is slaughtered, only its skin is cut, without cutting the blood vessels, and then it is left until it dies.

EXPLANATION:

The term "shirta" means to split the skin. It was the custom of the pre-Islamic era to lay the animal down and cut only the skin of its throat in order not to waste the blood by not cutting the arteries. The manner in which Christians now slaughter animals with electric shock is similar to this. Because it is due to the whispers of Satan, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, described it as "the devil’s slaughter."
