THE CHAPTER OF CORPSES · 64 – If someone digs a grave and finds bones, should they abandon that place and dig the grave elsewhere?
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: “Breaking a bone of the deceased is like breaking it while it is still attached to the body.” [115]
EXPLANATION
Just as the rights of the living are respected, so too are the rights of the dead. Their bones should not be broken or left exposed. When excavating a grave and bones emerge, one should separate them from the new corpse with earth and then rebury them.
