RITES OF HAJJ SECTION · 60 – ASCENT TO ARAFAT

1913 – It is narrated from Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) as follows:
He said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), on the morning of the Day of ʿArafa, after performing the morning prayer,
departed from Mina and arrived at ʿArafat. He encamped at the place called Namira. This is the place where the imam encamps near ʿArafat. When the time for the noon prayer came, exactly at midday, he went to the mosque of Namira and combined the noon and afternoon prayers. Then he addressed the people, and afterwards went and performed the standing (wuqūf) at ʿArafat. [632]
EXPLANATION
When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was at Namira and the time of zawāl (midday) arrived, he entered within the boundaries of ʿArafat, combined the noon and afternoon prayers, then went to the stony area at the foot of Jabal al-Raḥma and performed his standing (wuqūf) there.
