FASTING CHAPTER · 63 – FASTING ON THE DAY OF ARAFAH IN ARABAH
Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We were in the house of Abu Hurairah. He informed us that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) forbade fasting on the day of Arafat.
It is narrated from Haris's daughter, Umm al-Fadl, may Allah be pleased with her:
Some people disputed regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)’s fasting on the Day of Arafah, while they were with Umm al-Fadl in Arafah. Some said that he was fasting, and some said that he was not fasting. Umm al-Fadl said, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was performing *waqf* on his camel in Arafah when a cup of milk was brought to him, and he drank it.”
