THE FASTING CHAPTER · 59 – HOW THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PEACE AND BLESSINGS BE UPON HIM) USED TO FAST
The Prophet sallallahu aleyhi wa sallam, narrated by his wife Aisha radiyallahu anha, said:
The Prophet sallallahu aleyhi wa sallam would fast so much that we would say, “He will never break his fast.” And then he would abstain from fasting for such a long time that we would say, “He will never fast again.” I never saw him complete the fast of any month other than Ramadan. Nor did I ever see him fast more in any month than he did in Sha’ban.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) related it with the same meaning, adding: He would observe it except for a few days of Sha'ban, or even its entirety.
