THE SACRIFICE SECTION · 7 – HOW MANY PEOPLE DO A CAMEL AND CATTLE SUFFICE FOR AS SACRIFICES?


Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) related:
In the era of Prophethood, we would perform Hajj at-Tamattu’. We would share one cow for seven people.


Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: "An animal sacrificed for seven people may suffice for those seven people, and a camel may suffice for seven people."


Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
At Hudaybiyyah, seven people sacrificed a camel on behalf of each person, and seven people sacrificed an ox on behalf of each person.
COMMENTARY:
These honorable hadiths are evidence that oxen and camels can be sacrificed on behalf of seven persons.
