Jihad Section · 105 – It is forbidden to kill someone seeking protection in prostration.

Cerir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent a raiding party to the tribe of Hasam. Some of them were killed while prostrating [in prayer]. This hastened their demise. The news of those who were killed while prostrating reached the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He ordered that half a diyah (blood money) be paid for them, and he said: “I am clear of every Muslim who resides among the polytheists.”
They asked, "O Messenger of Allah?"
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “So that the fires [of Hell] of the Muslims and the polytheists do not meet.” [447]
**Explanation:**
Diyah: This means blood money. The diyah of a person is one hundred camels. The fact that half a diyah was paid for the Muslim who were killed while prostrating among the tribe of Hasam is due to their living amongst disbelievers and being killed as a result of that.
