JIHAD SECTION · 1 – THE HIJRA
Abū Sa’īd al-Hudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
A bedouin asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) about emigration.
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Woe to you! Emigration is difficult. Do you have camels?” He replied, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) then said, “Do you pay their zakāh?” He said, “Yes.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, “You work and act in the lands where you reside; Allah will not diminish anything from your deeds.”
From Mikdam ibn Shuayb, who narrated from his father:
I asked Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, about going to the desert. Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, once went up to the head of a watered high place, and he intended to go to the desert. He sent me a good, unridden camel from the zakat camels. And he commanded me, “O Aishah, treat the camel gently, for gentleness beautifies whatever it accompanies. And harshness disfigures everything it is associated with.”
