FASTING CHAPTER · 55 – THE MONTH OF MUHARRAM FAST
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The month most virtuous after the month of Ramadan is Muharram. And the prayer most excellent after obligatory prayers is the night prayer."
In a narration by Kutayyib: He omitted the word “month” and said only, “Ramadan.”
It is narrated from ‘Uthman ibn Hakim that he said:
I asked Sa’id bin Jubayr about the fast of Rajab, and he informed me that Ibn Abbas told him: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes fast. We would say, “We will not break the fast.” And sometimes he would not fast. We would say, “We will not fast.”
