FASTING CHAPTER · 52 – PERMISSION TO FAST ONLY ON SATURDAYS

Juwayriya bint Haris (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her on a Friday while she was fasting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, “Did you fast yesterday?” Juwayriya replied, "No." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Then break your fast.”

According to a narration from Ibn al-Shaaib (may Allah be pleased with him):
When it was mentioned to him that he had been forbidden from fasting on Saturday, Ibn al-Shaaib would say,
“It is a weak hadith.”
EXPLANATION:
Himsī means: This is an expression indicating the weakness of this hadith. For within its narrators are two individuals from Hims. One is Sawaar, another is Yazid, and the third is Khalid bin Madan.

According to a narration from Evzai, he said: I concealed the hadith concerning Saturday fasting from Abdullah bin Busr until I saw it spreading among the people.
Abu Dawud said: Malik said, "This is fabricated."
