THE CORPES EPISODE · 24 – READING THE QUR'AN BESIDE SOMEONE ABOUT TO DIE
Ma’kil ibn Yasir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Recite Yasin over your deceased.” [53]
EXPLANATION:
One should recite the Noble Chapter Ya-Sin in the presence of a believing person who is on the verge of death. For the remembrance and glorification contained within this chapter comforts the sick. As mentions of the Day of Resurrection, Paradise, and Hellfire occur, faith is strengthened. One should also recite it over the deceased after they have been washed, and the reward of this recitation should be dedicated to them.
