CORPES EPISODE · 80 – REMEMBERING THE GOOD DEEDS OF THE DEAD
Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
A bier was brought to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and praise was spoken concerning it.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “It has become obligatory.”
Then another bier was brought, and censure was spoken regarding it.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It became obligatory for him too." Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Indeed, some of you are witnesses over others.” [131]
EXPLANATION:
“Indeed, it is as if it becomes obligatory for one who does good to people, so that they praise him and say, ‘May Allah have mercy on him, he was a good person,’ to enter Paradise.
And indeed, the one who spends his life oppressing his neighbors, and when he dies, they speak against him saying, ‘It is good that he died, may Allah’s neighbors be rid of his evil,’ this confirms his entry into the Fire. It becomes obligatory. The witnesses of Allah on earth are people. If we make people our good witnesses, then we will attain success in the eternal realm.”
