Chapter 13: Sacrifices Made During Hajj
From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent sacrificial animals (hedy) during the year of Hudaybiyyah. Among the Messenger of Allah’s, peace and blessings be upon him, sacrificial offerings was Abu Jahil's male camel, which had a silver ring around its neck. Ibn Minhal said, "It had a gold ring instead."
Nufaili added: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, angered the polytheists with this camel.
**Note:** *Hedy* refers to an animal designated for sacrifice, with a shoe attached to its neck and a mark on its side. *Büre* means ring. Abu Jahil was killed at Badr; his camel remained as spoils of war for the Muslims. The polytheists were angered when they saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, possessing that camel. To prevent the polytheists from being angered, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, included it among the sacrificial animals. This hadith indicates that sacrificial offerings are permissible from male camels. Ibn 'Umar disliked sending a sacrificial offering from a male camel, considering only female camels suitable for sacrifice.
