JIHAD SECTION · 140 – SELLING SURPLUS FOOD FROM SPOILS IN THE ENEMY'S LAND
Abdurrahman bin Ghanm, may Allah be pleased with him, related:
We were stationed as a detachment awaiting to take the city of Kinasr in the company of Shurhabil bin Simt. When Shurhabil conquered it, we obtained spoils of sheep and cattle there. Some of them he distributed amongst us, and the remainder he left among the war spoils.
I encountered Mu’adh bin Jabal and recounted this to him. Mu’adh said: “We fought at Khaybar in the company of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and we obtained sheep there. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, distributed a portion of those sheep amongst us, and placed the rest among the war spoils.”
