CORPSES CHAPTER 23 – COVERING THE DEAD
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) related:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was covered with a patterned fabric woven in Yemen upon his death. [52]
EXPLANATION
Sevb-i Hıbra: This refers to a fabric woven in Yemen with patterns of lines.
When a person dies, sometimes their form changes considerably. To prevent people from seeing it, spreading gossip, and unveiling women’s private areas, something is placed over them.
