SECTION ON JIHAD · 59 – THE DISLIKEDNESS OF BREEDING A DONKEY WITH A MARE
2565 – It is narrated from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: A mule was gifted to the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him). He rode it. ʿAlī (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If we were to breed a donkey with a mare, we would get a mule like this. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Only those who do not know do that.” [392]
