JIHAD SECTION · 132 – The Commander Staying for a While in the Territory of the Defeated Enemy

According to the narration of Abu Talha, may Allah be pleased with him, he said:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would stay in a place for three days when he overcame a people.
Ibn Musanna said: He liked to stay among them for three days when he overcame a people. [476]
Abu Dawud said: Yahya bin Said criticized this hadith. It was not among the earliest hadiths that Sa’id narrated from Katada. And Sa'id became senile at the age of forty-five. But he narrated this hadith towards the end of his life. However, it is said that Waqi' also took (this hadith) from Sa'id while he was senile.
