FASTING CHAPTER · 25 – A FASTER'S SLANDERING
Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever does not abandon falsehood—in speech and action—Allah is not concerned with his food and drink.” Ahmad bin Yunus said: I understood the chain of narration of this hadith from Ibn Abi Ziyab. But a man who was present with him, whom I thought to be his nephew, also related it to me [274].
Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Fasting is a shield; so whoever among you is fasting, let him not engage in foul language or behave ignorantly. And if someone provokes or insults him, he should say, ‘I am fasting, I am fasting.’”
