According to the narration of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that a woman from amongst the Ansar would vow to dedicate her child, if she had one, to the Jews. Some men from the Ansar were among those expelled from the tribe of Banu Nadir when they were driven out of Medina. The Ansar said, “We will not leave our sons.” Then the Most High and Majestic Allah revealed the verse: "There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. Indeed, right guidance has become distinct from error." (Surah al-Baqarah, 256).

Abū Dāwūd said: Mıklat: is a woman who does not have a child survive infancy.

EXPLANATION

This honorable hadith is evidence that those who entered another religion before Islam cannot be forced to return from it. Some scholars have stated that this verse was abrogated, as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged Arabs to embrace Islam.
