THE SACRIFICE CHAPTER · 11 – THE TRAVELER'S SACRIFICE
Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed an animal during a journey. Then he said, “O Safwan, prepare this sheep’s meat for us.” (And I carried out that command.)
I continued to feed him from its meat until we arrived in Medina. [543]
**Explanation:**
This honorable hadith is evidence that sacrifice can be performed during a journey. However: Sacrifice is not obligatory on a traveler during their travel. There is no harm in sacrificing it as a voluntary act, and one will receive reward for it.
