CHAPTER 36 – A PILGRIM'S BLEEDING
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had cupping performed while in ihram. [583]
EXPLANATION:
There is no objection to a person in ihram having cupping done if it does not lead to weakness or the plucking out of hairs from the place where the cupping is performed. If it causes the plucking out of hairs, then he gives charity.
Al-Shafi’i, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Ishaq, Imam al-Azam and his students, and Sufyan al-Thawri have permitted a person in ihram to have cupping done. Malik says that if a person in ihram has cupping done, it requires an expiation sacrifice. (Ma'alim as-Sunan vol. 2, p. 356)
It is narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while in ihram due to a discomfort in his head, had blood drawn from his head.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him), while in a state of ihram due to a pain in his foot, had blood drawn from the top of his foot.
