The Section on Wills · 12 – The property gifted as a grant is either bequeathed to him or inherited by someone.

It is narrated from Buraidah’s father, Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that:
A woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him), saying: "I had gifted a slave girl in charity for my mother, and after her death, she left the slave girl as inheritance to me."
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, “You have attained reward through your kindness, and the slave girl has returned to you through inheritance.”
The woman said: "My mother died owing a debt of one month of fasting. Is it sufficient for me to fast on her behalf? Or should I pay off her debt?"
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Yes.” The woman said: "My mother did not perform Hajj. Is it sufficient for me to perform Hajj on her behalf, or would that expiate her obligation?"
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) replied, “Yes.”
