JIHAD SECTION · 154 – THE SHARE OF MOUNTED WARRIORS IN BOOTY

According to the narration of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) divided provisions for a man and his riding beast into three portions. He allocated one portion to the man and two portions to his mount.

According to my father, Abu Amra, related that:
Four of us came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with a riding animal among us. He apportioned a share to each of us, and gave the riding animal two shares.

It was narrated that the meaning of this hadith passed from Abu 'Amrah. However, he said in his narration, "We were three people." In Abu 'Amrah's narration there is this addition: "(Three saddled horses were given to the cavalryman.)"
