JIHAD SECTION · 107 – THE STATUS OF A PRISONER FORCED INTO INFIDELITY
Habbab, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
We came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was resting in the shade of the Ka’bah, having placed his cloak beneath his head. We complained to him about the polytheists, saying, “Would you not ask Allah for help? Would you not supplicate to Allah for us?” Upon this, his face reddened with anger, and he said: "Those who came before you were afflicted in ways such that a man would be seized and a pit dug for him, then a saw brought and placed upon his head and he was split in two, yet that persecution did not divert him from his religion. His bones would be scraped with iron combs until the flesh, nerves, and sinews were removed, yet that did not make him renounce his religion. I swear by Allah that Allah will surely perfect this religion, so that a traveler may journey between San’a and Hadramawt without fearing anyone except Allah and regarding his sheep as he fears the wolf, but you are impatient.”
