SECTION ON WAJIBS • 13 – THE STATUS OF SOMEONE WHO BECOMES A MUSLIM THROUGH A MUSLIM INTERMEDIARY

Temim ad-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
He asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him), “What is the legal ruling regarding a person who becomes Muslim through the invitation of a Muslim, in his presence?”
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, "He is the closest of people to him [the one who brought him into Islam] in life and after death.” [612]
**Explanation:**
Those adhering to the Hanafi school of law have decreed that if a disbeliever becomes Muslim at the hand of a Muslim, then dies leaving behind property without heirs, the property belongs to the one who facilitated his entry into Islam.
