Section 15 of VE FEY: The Support of Children Left Behind by the Deceased

Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: “I am closer to the believers than their own selves. Whoever leaves behind property, it belongs to his heirs. And whoever leaves behind a debt and children, then caring for them and paying off their debt is incumbent upon me.”

Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever leaves behind wealth, it belongs to his heirs. And whoever leaves behind debt, it is ours.”

Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: “I am closer to every believer than his own self. If a person dies indebted, then I pay off his debt. And if he leaves wealth, it belongs to his heirs.”
Note: If a debtor dies leaving no property with which to settle the debt, then the debt is paid from the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal).
