THE CHAPTER OF CORPSES · 37 – USING MUSK FOR THE CORPSE
Abu Sa’id al-Hudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said: “The best of your fragrances is musk.” [78]
EXPLANATION
Before a corpse is wrapped in its shroud, the shroud is scented one, three, or five times to eliminate foul odors and for its pleasant fragrance. Then it is wrapped around the deceased.
