MARRIAGE CHAPTER · 16 – HULL'S MARRIAGE

Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
Ismail said, "I believe this was elevated to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him)." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) said, “May Allah curse one who contracts marriage through hilla and one for whom hilla is performed.”
[101]
EXPLANATION
Tahallul: This means performing hilla.
The way the people describe hilla has become a target for the Messenger of Allah’s (peace and blessings upon him) curse. The correct thing is that if a man divorces his wife three times, and he wants to take her back, he cannot. However, after the divorced woman completes her waiting period ('iddah), she marries with her own consent, and then there is discord between them. If she is divorced again, after completing her 'iddah, she can marry her first husband. The second husband has become the muhallil.

A companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him—and we believe this person to be Ali, may Allah be pleased with him—narrated a report from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning the meaning of the following hadith.
