SECTION ON FASTING · 22 – WORDS TO BE SAID WHEN BREAKING THE FAST



2357 – It is narrated from Marwān (ibn Sālim) that he said: I saw Ibn ʿUmar holding his beard and trimming what exceeded a handful. Ibn ʿUmar said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) would say when breaking his fast, “The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and, if Allah wills, the reward is established.”



2358 – From Muʿādh ibn Zahra: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him), when breaking his fast, would say, “O Allah, for You I have fasted, and with Your provision I have broken my fast.”
