Divorce Section · 20 – Those who say that a husband is free when his wife attains her freedom.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) related:
When Berira was freed, her husband was free. She was given the option [of choice]. Thereupon, Berira said, “Even if she had provided me with so much opportunity, I would not want to remain with him.”
EXPLANATION
The phrase "her husband was free" is included in the narrative when Berira was freed, and this is the statement of Aswad ibn Yazid. In some narrations, this comes as an explanation.
