Abdullah ibn Ja'far, may Allah be pleased with him, related:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would be received when he returned from a journey. Whoever met him would take precedence over the others. I was once received by them and they made me ride in front of him. Then Hasan or Husayn was received by them and they made him ride behind him. And so we entered Medina.
