1883 – It is narrated from Ya‘lā ibn Umayya (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) performed tawaf around the Ka‘ba while doing iztiba’ (iztiba’: exposing the right shoulder by placing the middle of the upper ihram cloth over the right shoulder and its ends under the right armpit), wearing a green burda (burda: a cloak or striped cloth used as a garment or as the upper piece of the ihram). EXPLANATION
Iztiba’: In tawaf after which sa‘y is performed, it refers to placing the middle of the upper ihram cloth over the right shoulder and bringing its ends under the right armpit, thus keeping the right shoulder exposed. Burda: The cloth, cloak, or striped fabric used as a garment or as the upper piece of the ihram.
1884 – It is narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions (ṣaḥāba) intended to perform ‘umrah from Ji‘rāna. They performed ramal (ramal: brisk walking) at the Ka‘ba. They placed the middle of the upper ihram cloth (rida: here referring to the upper ihram garment) over their left shoulders and brought its ends under their right armpits.

Rida: Refers to a cloak. Here, it means the upper ihram cloth.
