SECTION ON JIHAD · 114 – BOASTING IN WAR

2659 – It is narrated from Jābir ibn ʿAtīk (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah loves some forms of jealousy and is angry at others. The jealousy that Allah loves is jealousy concerning matters that arouse suspicion. The jealousy that Allah is angry at is jealousy concerning matters other than those that arouse suspicion. Likewise, Allah is angry at some forms of pride and loves others. The pride that He loves is a person’s pride during battle and his pride when giving charity.
