Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When my brother was newly born, I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to have his gums rubbed (with a substance). Then I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tending sheep in a fold. Shu’bah said: I think Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was branding a sheep's ear.” [390]
