CORPSES CHAPTER · 14 – DYING UNEXPECTEDLY

It is narrated from Ubayd ibn Khalid as-Sulami, one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Musaddad transmitted this hadith sometimes from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and sometimes from Ubayd. He said: “Sudden death is taking [the soul] in anger.”
EXPLANATION: Sudden death is considered a regrettable death – one taken with anger, wherein the person does not express their distress, cannot write a will, cannot explain their debts, nor can they repent for their sins. However, not every person who dies suddenly is sinful. Even righteous people may die unexpectedly.
