SECTION ON JIHAD · 118 – UNSHEATHING THE SWORD WHEN CONFRONTING THE ENEMY



2664 – It is narrated from Abū Usayd as-Sāʿidī, through his son Ḥamza and his grandson Mālik ibn Ḥamza ibn Abī Usayd as-Sāʿidī, who said: On the day of the Battle of Badr, the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When the enemy approaches you, shoot arrows at them; do not unsheath your swords until they have surrounded you.”
