Ukba ibn Amir, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to forbid us from performing prayers and burying the deceased during three periods.

1. From when the sun begins to rise until it is high.

2. When the midday sun is directly overhead, until its shadow moves towards the east.

3. From when the sun starts to set in the west until it sets, or as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stated. [103]

**Explanation:** These are times of aversion (kerahat). Performing the funeral prayer during these times is disliked (makruh). Burial itself is not disliked. However, according to Imam Shafi’i, there is no aversion in performing the funeral prayer over a deceased person and participating in the burial during these times.
