SECTION ON FUNERALS · 38 – HASTENING THE BURIAL OF THE DECEASED

3159 – It is narrated from Ḥusayn ibn Wahwah (may Allah be pleased with him): Ṭalḥa ibn Barāʾ had fallen ill. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit him. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I see nothing in Ṭalḥa except the signs of death. Inform me of his death and hasten with his burial. Indeed, it is not fitting to keep the body of a believer (muʾmin) among his family.”
EXPLANATION
The deceased should be placed in his grave as soon as possible. It is disliked (makrūh) to delay the burial of someone who died in the morning until the noon prayer just to increase the number of attendees.
