Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:

A woman said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "Pray for me and my husband."

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “May Allah have mercy on you and your husband.”

EXPLANATION

In this hadith, the term *salat* refers to supplication. Because the word *salat* has meanings of prayer, supplication, and the noble salutations [upon the Prophet]. This woman was requesting that the Prophet supplicate for her and her husband, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is supplicating with mercy for this woman and her husband. Whoever the Light of the Universe has made supplication for, they have been blessed.
